The Center for the Study of Education Policy made its annual Christmas donation to Autism McLean
Principal-Preparation Programs Get Major Makeover in Illinois Illinois’ work to make principal preparation statewide more rigorous and relevant is again in the news. In fact, Education Week just ran a series of articles on the importance of principal preparation that include an article citing Illinois’ work.
Erika Hunt, a senior policy analyst and researcher at Illinois State’s Center for the Study of Education Policy, presented with University of Illinois at Chicago Professor Shelby Cosner December 12 at a Wallace Foundation meeting.
Elgin Area School District Unit 46 has implemented play-based curriculum in their all-day kindergarten classrooms. The district shared the curriculum’s development, implementation, and initial results.
There are currently 47 National Board Professional Development Schools in Illinois led by administrator leaders. The NBRC is expanding this program to include an additional 25 schools/districts to take part in this opportunity during the 2017-2018 school year.
CSEP staff attended a U.S. Department of Education Director’s Meeting in New Jersey earlier this month for the IL-PART project.
The session presented the recently released “School Leader Paradigm” developed by IPA to round out the actual personal, social, and systems intelligences and competencies needed by today’s school leaders.
Lynne Haeffele delivered a keynote speech titled “Poverty and Education Policy: Where Have We Been and Where Do We Go From Here?” at a meeting sponsored by Illinois Humanities.

The Center for the Study of Education Policy (CSEP), Birth-to-Third Grade (B3) Continuity team recently spoke at the Annual Community Schools Forum. The forum is hosted by the Federation for Community Schools. This year’s theme was The Power of Us: Community School Partnerships and Success for All.
