Illinois State University’s Jazz Ensembles I and II will present a Fall Big Band Dance from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, November 17, at the New Lafayette Club, 1602 S. Main, Bloomington.

Set in, and inspired by, Reading, Pennsylvania, a town long fueled by steel mills, coal mines, the railroad, and factory work, SWEAT follows the story of a close group of friends and is centered in the bar where they have shared many drinks and moments.

The ISU Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of David Collier and Ben Stiers, will present their fall concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, November 10, in Kemp Recital Hall on the campus of Illinois State University. This concert is free and open to the public.

CreativeCon prepares fine arts students for careers

159 fine arts students had the opportunity to get a head start on their careers last week. On October 17, a handful of alumni returned to campus to share their advice with current Illinois State students as part of the second annual CreativeCon. The free event was organized by the Career Center and the Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts and held in the Center for the Visual Arts.
