On March 9-12, 2022, Department of Technology faculty members Troy Blunier, Josh Brown, and Josh Katz attended, along with Technology and Engineering Education students Amanda Pediak, Will Maire, Riley Fortune, Gary Derwin, Will Salek, Henry Gleamza, Nick Schaefer, Tyler Polak, and Yoni Leibovitz, The International Technology and Engineering Educators Association Annual Conference: “Standards for Technological and Engineering Literacy: The Role of Technology and Engineering in STEM Education–Keys to Success!”
Back in his days at Illinois State University, Jackie Thompson Jr. ’93 was an active member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity and even played football his freshman year, earning a letter as a fullback and member of the special teams. Everyone called him J.J., as his friends still do.

The master’s in criminal justice sciences program at Illinois State has given students many real-world, hands-on experiences. For Bothwell Piason, a graduate student within the Department of Criminal Justice Sciences, becoming a #GradBird has allowed him to explore more opportunities within his research in the criminal justice field.
This year, the College of Applied Science and Technology launched CAST Connections, the college’s new student-level success center. One of the center’s goals is to provide students with an opportunity to participate in community outreach projects. That goal was accomplished this year by partnering with a program titled Make it Matter.
Christy Lange ’08, M.S. ’10, an alum of the child life program in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences, is currently a facility dog program coordinator at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.
