Department of Health Sciences alum Jennifer Holliday ’14 is this year’s recipient of the American Industrial Hygiene Association’s (AIHA) Kusnetz Award, which recognizes her accomplishments and work as an industrial hygienist.

Student organization decorates Felmley Hall with plants
Before the COVID-19 pandemic began, hundreds of students passed through the Felmley Hall and Felmley Hall of Science Annex every week. This fostered the idea of the Felmley Flora Project (FFP) that aims to create a welcoming, refreshing, and clean environment through the addition of indoor plants.

Dr. Brad Christensen—a STEM specialist with Illinois State’s Center for Mathematics, Science, and Technology—has been collaborating with Rose Mabwa, a senior manager with The Community Builders, to engage Chicago youth in STEM projects.
Bone Scholar Profiles: Trevar Moran, Department of Health Sciences
Students from different departments within CAST (and one student involved in Gamma Phi Circus) were selected as Robert G. Bone Scholars for the 2020-2021 academic year. The recognition is the highest campus honor given to undergraduate students. This year’s recipients answered questions about their work, inspiration, and the honor of being named a Bone Scholar.

“Contact tracing” is a term that the average person might not have been familiar with before 2020 and the beginning of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. However, students in the Department of Health Sciences at Illinois State University study it every year and were in a unique position to offer assistance as the need for additional contact tracers arose.
