“Through my time at school and at HomeStart, it became obvious that understanding policy, power structures, government, and advocacy are all critical parts of supporting affordable housing development,” noted Cassidy Kraimer. The Stevenson Center will soon welcome Kraimer as a Fellow in political science.
“I decided to pursue graduate school because my work in education felt reactive, not proactive,” said Natasha Moodie. The Stevenson Center will soon welcome Moodie as an Applied Community and Economic Development Fellow in sociology.
“I have always had a passion for health and fitness, and I’d like to use my knowledge and experience to share that same enthusiasm with others,” said Lindsey Kren. The Stevenson Center will soon welcome Kren as a Peace Corps Fellow in kinesiology and recreation.
“I am extremely passionate about alleviating poverty and improving opportunities for those who may encounter barriers upon entering higher education,” said Krista Zampacorta.
The Stevenson Center center will soon welcome Kenyetta McGowens as an Applied Community and Economic Development Fellow in anthropology.
“Through my experience as an AmeriCorps VISTA, I’ve seen the life-changing effects that come from giving people opportunities to do more,” explained Jack Hanson. The Stevenson Center will soon welcome Hanson as an Applied Community and Economic Development Fellow in applied economics.
“From a young age serving in the Peace Corps was something I had hoped was in my future,” noted Haley Ehlers. The Stevenson Center will soon welcome Ehlers as a Peace Corps Fellow in political science.
Peace Corps and a master’s degree can each launch a career: Brian Kiger ’05 combined them and has since pursued a calling in international development that allows him to touch the lives of many. It all started at Illinois State.
The Stevenson Center attracts bright and accomplished graduate students to its Fellows programs and undergraduate students to Peace Corps Prep. This academic year brought recognition of students’ success, on campus and off campus.
Peace Corps Fellow Ryan Arnold has always had a penchant for making things happen, even before joining the Stevenson Center. Prior to starting his master’s degree, Arnold served with the Peace Corps in Cameroon from 2011 to 2013 as a youth development coordinator. He went on to work at CARE for AIDS for four years as the African Operations Director. In 2018, Arnold joined the Stevenson Center to pursue a master’s degree in political science.
