Obsidian: Literature & Arts in the African Diaspora is the recipient of a $12,500 Renewal and Recovery Grant from the Poetry Foundation.

The 2022 Renewal and Recovery Grants build upon previous COVID-19 pandemic relief grants from the Poetry Foundation that were awarded in 2020 and 2021 to 128 U.S.-based nonprofit organizations. In 2022, these 128 grantee-partners were invited to apply for a final round of pandemic relief support.

In July 2022, the Poetry Foundation awarded $1 million in support of 79 U.S.-based nonprofit organizations that are committed to increasing access to poetry through such activities as publications, events, and educational programs. These organizations represent a robust cross-section of the poetry field while also being geographically diverse. The 2022 Renewal and Recovery Grants ranged in size from $5,000 to $20,000.
