Due to the forecast for severe weather this evening, Illinois State University will close at 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 31, until 12:01 a.m. Saturday, April 1.

Evening events on campus are cancelled. Residence halls and dining centers will remain open to serve students.

In the event a tornado warning is issued that impacts the campus, the University will issue an ISU Emergency Alert notifying those who are on campus and in close proximity to immediately take shelter. Take time now to familiarize yourself with the safest areas to ride out the storm. In general, go to the lowest level of a building, in the most interior space. Stay away from windows. Download the SafeRedbirds app and look at the Emergency Guide section to receive more detailed information on how to respond to severe weather.

Beginning at 4:30 p.m., only weather essential personnel should report to work. All other employees, with shifts that begin after 4:30 p.m. on Friday and regardless of current work location (on-campus or remote), are not required to work during this weather closure. Individuals with work shifts that begin prior to the closure time should report to work as scheduled. All non-essential employees will be released when the closure begins.  Consistent with University guidelines on severe weather closure, employees who are scheduled, in advance of the closure, to use payable time (e.g., vacation, sick or compensatory) should continue to report that previously approved benefit time.
